Councillor Liz Hacket Pain, Cabinet Member with responsibility for education, said:
“It’s vital that parents apply for school places on time.
“Applications which are not submitted by the deadline date will be considered after those received on time. That means parents who apply late are at greater risk of not being allocated places at their first preference school for their child - even if they have other children already in the school.”
To make it easier for parents and make services more accessible, Monmouthshire has invested in anonline system so that parents can apply for their child’s school place from the comfort of their own home.
When applying for a school place online, parents get automatic acknowledgement that their request has been received and they can track the status of their application at any time.
The process is very secure: data is protected at all times and parents are issued with a user name and password that can only access information relating to their child.
Parents can apply for school places for the academic year 2013/14 from:
- secondary school places - 5 October 2012 (closing date 30 November 2012)
- primary school placements – 19November 2012 (closing date 25 January 2013)
