Monmouthshire County Council is to offer grants of up to £1,500 through its Community Chest scheme to the county’s clubs and associations. This follows receipt of a 2013/14 budget from Sport Wales of just over £67,000. The money will be earmarked for activities that encourage more people to become more active, more often and raise the standards of existing activities.
In addition, funding will be available for projects that aid grassroots community sport and assist clubs to cater for interest generated following the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as preparing for demand leading up to the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and beyond. In the financial year 2013/14 particular focus will be made on encouraging women’s and girls’ participation in sport.
Monmouthshire’s Community Chest Panel has produced a newsletter which features clubs and associations that benefited from last year’s scheme. This can be accessed at www.monleisure.co.uk.
Applications for the next panel meeting in April are currently being accepted. For further information and an application form contact Monmouthshire’s Sport and Community Development Department on 01633 644544.
