Sunday, June 2 is exactly 60 years since the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Chepstow Town Council is marking the event with the second Hit Parade Picnic. With the theme of the 50s and 60s. The first two decades of her Majesty's reign will be celebrated through their pop music. Performers are invited to join in the entertainment by singing hits of their choice to backing tracks. Last years, Diamond Discs - 60 years of hit music Fest was a great success even though it had to be transferred to the Drill Hall because of the unseasonable weather. June 2nd is also national "Big Lunch" day where communities are encouraged to eat together "alfresco". Chepstow Town Council will have available on the riverbank trestle tables, chairs and pop-up shelters. Everyone is welcome to bring a picnic and delicious cooked food will be available from local hostelries and the Cotswold wood fired pizza company. Charities and societies are invited set up stalls (potential stallholders should contact Chepstow Town Council 01291 626370) and the Chepstow Festival games including the perennial favourite “roll-a-rock” will make a guest appearance.
