If you live in the area and enjoy creative crafts and sewing, textile artist Petra wants to hear from you. She’s recruiting local volunteers to help create two wall hangings to commemorate this summer’s exhibitions at Chepstow and Abergavenny Museums.
Petra and exhibition at Abergavenny Museum
‘Sites of Inspiration’ is a showcase of priceless works of art inspired by Abbey (Chepstow Museum) and Priory (Abergavenny Museum.) Both exhibitions are free and are open until September 28th.
The commemorative wall hangings will be inspired by the paintings of JMW Turner, John Piper and others and revisit images of the Abbey and the Priory, bringing them to life again. Based in the Valley, Petra uses 100% sheep fleece in her paintings which focus on local landscapes and flowers.
The project, funded by The Arts Council for Wales and Oakdale Trust aims to engage the local community with their museums. The wall hangings will be on display at the museums at a follow on exhibition in October.
If you would like to take part in this project, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Joanna on 07584 119592. The deadline is August 8th 2014
