Monmouthshire residents will shortly receive a letter by post outlining significant changes to the electoral registration process. The letter explains that a new and more secure system of Individual Electoral Registration will be introduced to replace the current system dating back to Victorian times which places responsibility for registering everyone living in a property on the head of household. The introduction of the new system means that each individual will be responsible for registering themselves.
Many Monmouthshire residents will automatically move on to the new electoral register and will need to take no further action when they receive their confirmation letter.
Some electors may not be able to be registered automatically and will need to provide further information. They should follow the instructions given in the letter which they will receive between 21st July and 8th August.
