Chepstow Racecourse is pleased to announce that it will play host to two concerts this summer – UB40 on 30 May, and Madness on 10 July.
Fresh off the road from their sell out 2014 arena tour, Madness are now set to perform at Chepstow Racecourse on Friday 10th July 2015 as part of the UK’s greatest ever live open air tour...ever! The band said, “Come see, come see! The world’s strongest band perform incredible feats live! Marvel as Madness lift an enormous set of polished pop songs high in the air, single handed! The UK's biggest open air tour ever! Rolling into a town near you, soon.”
The tour, which runs from May to September 2015, will take in 19 shows at some of the greatest sporting venues around the country, including racecourses, cricket grounds, rugby and football stadiums.
These shows will offer the concertgoers the unique experience of an outdoor event with a festival vibe, set within these iconic huge green spaces.
Madness will be performing inimitable quirky pop classics such as “House of Fun”, “Baggy Trousers” and “My Girl”, iconic songs that are guaranteed to draw you in, get you dancing and singing along. The band will also be performing some of their new songs, their first new recordings in three years.
Phil Bell, Executive Director at Chepstow Racecourse, said: “We are delighted that we have secured UB40 and Madness to play at the racecourse this summer. They are both national treasures, with songs that span multiple decades, and they will both attract a huge audience.”
Madness notably spent 214 weeks in the UK singles chart over the course of the 1980s, and have notched up 15 UK top ten singles, with ‘House Of Fun’ soaring to number one. Tickets for the Madness Racenight on 10 July are on sale from 20th February priced from £39, with a limited number of ‘early bird’ tickets priced at £35.
Phil Bell added “Chepstow Racecourse has played host to some fantastic acts in the past few years, including Jools Holland, and Sir Tom Jones, in 2014. Both UB40 and Madness always put on an incredible show, with hits that appeal to music fans of all ages. The combination of a day at the races, followed immediately by a concert has proven to be a real hit, and we are looking forward to two fantastic evenings of entertainment.”
“In addition to these two fabulous concerts, we are also set to announce a celebrity DJ for our Ladies’ Evening on 12 June. Keep an eye on our web site, and in the press, for further details in the coming weeks.”
Tickets for all concerts will be available at www.chepstow-racecourse.co.uk.
